The charming musical production of The Bakers Wife is currently at the Ridgefield Theater Barn until June 22, 2024.

Inspired by the 1938 French film, La femme du boulanger, the musical was created by Tony Award-winning playwright Joseph Stein (Fiddler on the Roof), with music and lyrics by award-winning musical composer and lyricist, Stephen Schwartz (Godspell, Wicked, Pippin). The production is directed by Rena Gavigan, with musical direction by Sarah Fox.

The show fuses comedy, music, and emotional moments in this cult classic musical. Set in 1935, the arrival of a new baker and his younger wife turn a provincial French village upside down.

The production showcases a strong ensemble. Cast members: Joe Harding (Aimable), Claire Simard (Genevieve), Catherine Cavender (Denise), Bill Warncke (Claude), Tara Bahna-James (Hortense), Mathew Donovan (Barnaby), Denise Milmerstadt (Therese), Eric Novak (Antoine), Alan Partelow-Zika (Dominque), Hannah Rapaglia (Philippe), Rob Mayette (teacher), Robert Roda (priest), Chris Partelow-Zika (Marquis), Mel McGuire (Simone), Normita Ramchandani (Inez), and Jennifer DeLancey Agro (PomPom).
